Natural Science Unit 8 Laboratory Activity:
Matter

Goal: Explore ways of determining the properties of matter

This week, you make up a procedure for investigating some aspect of matter. Choose one of the following projects, and devise an experiment for making the observation..

  1. What is the density of the alloy used in nickels (the US coin)? Remember that water has a density of 1 gram/cubic centimeter.
  2. Show that air, which we cannot see, has mass.
  3. Can you determine whether pressure on an object causes it to heat up?
  4. Find the density of an irregular object.

If you are totally stuck, email me, and I'll give you more explicit instructions. But see what you can do first.

Upload your lab report to the Moodle assignment site for it.
