Though there is an astounding range of helpful tools that can be brought to bear on the problem of learning Greek, much of it is for the more advanced student or the specialist. For this course we will be relying primarily on Freeman and Lowe, A Greek Reader for Schools and J. J. Helm’s edition of Plato’s Apology of Socrates, which contains extensive and very helpful notes. Both books contain satisfactory glossaries, though some additional dictionary is probably advisible.
