Week 6: Homer’s Iliad, Books 17-24
ca. 800 B.C.
Please have read by your classtime this week:
- Homer, The Iliad, Bks. 17-24.
If you can’t cover it all, focus on books 17, 18, 21, 22, and 24. The essential core of the story has to do with Achilles, his descent into inhumanity and his final confrontation with Hector, and his final recovery of his humanity through his encounter with Priam.
This time I’d like to entertain any questions you have been considering. Therefore, think of a few good questions — either factual matters, or points for discussion, and post them to the class forum.
