New concepts (or redefined terms) for identifying groups of people emerge as a result of the Industrial Revolution, nationalism, liberalism, and socialism: nations, cultures, races, classes. How does the use of these terms by popular causes affect the individual's perception of himself (or herself)? How do they affect the way those outside an individual's group community or group are perceived?
