Please post in the forum for the day a short essay in response to this question:
The struggle for domination in India, China, and Japan is often seen as a struggle to “open” a closed culture. What makes a community open or closed? What are the advantages and disadvantages to the culture in being isolated from outside influence? Why did the closed cultures of east Asia eventually open up to Western influence?
