Last chapter, we claimed that colonialism has at all periods typically been driven by a quest for resources. What resources draw European powers to seek to dominant and colonize the countries of Asia (particularly India, China, and Japan)? What resources in these countries make it possible for them to adapt to or resist colonial domination, whether political or cultural?
